This November, to show our gratitude to our educators, we’re giving a year of Newsela PRO to 100 educators. With Newsela PRO, all the reading your students do on Newsela gives you more insight into their learning, and you have more ways to deepen student engagement on each article with annotations, writing prompts, and custom classroom activities linked to other articles and Text Sets.
Every week, all Newsela educators can earn an entry in the sweepstakes by assigning at least one article. Educators can earn bonus entries by favoriting different types of articles. Favoriting an article without assigning any articles will not qualify for an entry for that week’s drawing.
Helpful how-to guides:
- How to create a class on Newsela
- How to assign an article on Newsela
- How to favorite an article: Click the heart in the upper right hand corner of the article. It will then be saved on your “Articles you’ve loved” page.
Guidelines for earning entries:
- Week One (10/31/16-11/6/16): Earn one entry by assigning any article. Earn a bonus entry by favoriting an article in the Science category.
- Week Two (11/7/16-11/13/16): Earn one entry by assigning any article. Earn a bonus entry by favoriting a Primary Sources article.
- Week Three (11/14/16-11/20/16): Earn one entry by assigning any article. Earn a bonus entry by favoriting an Issue Spotlight article.
- Week Four (11/21/16-11/27/16): Earn one entry by assigning any article. Earn a bonus entry by favoriting a Biography article.
We will randomly select winners at midnight on the last day (Sunday) of each week. Entries earned every week will accumulate throughout the four weeks (i.e., if you earn an entry the first week, you will have at least one entry for all of the weeks). Guidelines for selecting winners:
- Week One (11/6): 10 winners will be selected from all entries earned in Week One.
- Week Two (11/13): 20 winners will be selected from all entries earned in Week One and Week Two.
- Week Three (11/20): 30 winners will be selected from all entries earned in Week One, Week Two, and Week Three.
- Week Four (11/27): 40 winners will be selected from all entries earned in Week One, Week Two, Week Three, and Week Four.
Winners will be notified via email. Entries are based solely on assigning articles or favoriting articles, and no additional actions or communications with Newsela are required to be entered to win. No purchase necessary to win.
