PRO / CON: Eat Less Meat to Protect Our Environment, Day 4 of 4

Newsela Article

Learning Objective

In this 4-day lesson I am learning to write an opinion piece using textual evidence from an informational article to support my claim and reasons why cutting back on meat eating will or will not help protect the environment.

I know I understand when I can identify text evidence on Day 1 and Day 2 to support my reasons as well as those of the opposing viewpoint, along with explaining how the authors use these facts to prove their own points.

By the end of Day 4, students will be able towrite a logically ordered, one-paragraph persuasive essay using at least three relevant facts and details from an informational text to support the reasons for their claim, as well as to offer a rebuttal to the opposing viewpoint.
