- Text Set: Election Issue: Gun Control and the Second Amendement
Students today will be reading three Newsela articles to explore the issues around gun violence, gun rights and gun control. Students will explore both sides of the issue of gun control by researching and summarizing information and data found online. Students will also prepare for a classroom debate where they will be asked to take a stand for one side of the issue.
Today I am learning … about the different points of views regarding gun rights and gun control in the United States while learning the impact that gun laws have on people.
I know I understand when … I am able to explain to others what gun laws are, what gun rights activists claim and what gun control activists want. I will also be able to explain how the Constitution of the United States plays such an integral role in this controversy.
Students will be able to … research the issues of gun laws, rights be able to write a short paper to support one side of the issue but be able to also understand the opposing side.
