Creating and editing text sets

A text set is a collection of articles that share a common theme, topic or standard. You can use text sets created by Newsela or create your own.

Creating a text set

  1. Hover over TEXT SETS on the Search and Navigation bar at the top and choose YOUR TEXT SETS
  2. Click CREATE NEW TEXT SET.
  3. Enter a name, slug, and description for your text set.                                    
  4. Choose Everyone or Just me.
    NOTE: If you choose Everyone, Newsela will set up the text set so you can share it by email, Facebook, Pinterest, or Twitter.
  5. Click Create.

Editing a text set

Changing the name, description, or visibility 

  1. Hover over TEXT SETS on the Search and Navigation bar at the top and choose YOUR TEXT SETS.
  2. Click the text set you want to work with.
  3. Hover over the Wrench  icon beside the title.
  4. Click Edit this text set.
  5. Update the text set name, description, or visibility.
  6. Click Save.

Adding articles

  1. Open the article you want to add to a text set.
  2. Click the Text Set drop-down menu at the top and choose a text set. You can create a new text set by choosing +NEW TEXT SET. Enter a name, description, and choose Everyone or Just me. Click Save.


    NOTE: An article can be added to more than one text set.

Removing articles

  1. Hover over TEXT SETS on the Search and Navigation bar at the top and select YOUR TEXT SETS
  2. Click the text set you want to work with.
  3. Navigate to the article you want to remove.
  4. Click the X on the top right corner.
  5. Click Remove.

Deleting a text set

  1. Hover over TEXT SETS on the Search and Navigation bar at the top and select YOUR TEXT SETS
  2. Click the text set you want to delete. 
    NOTE: Once you delete a text set, it can't be recovered.
  3. Hover over the Wrench  icon beside the title.
  4. Click Delete this text set.
  5. Click Delete.
