Tips for turning Paired Texts into lessons
- Have students separate in two reading groups. Each group will read a different article. Students will highlight and annotate for evidence that supports the claim that art is a tool to change the world. After reading, groups will come together to share evidence before completing writing prompt.
- Separate each article as a daily lesson. For each lesson, students will gather evidence with annotations that supports the claim that art is a tool to change the world. On the third day, students will use evidence from both articles to complete writing prompt.
- Students can participate in a debate or Socratic Seminar where they are encouraged to take a position on a presented question. Then they can complete a written response based on the texts and their debate experience.
