When you create a class, you set the grade level for that class. When articles are assigned to the class, Newsela initially delivers a version of the article to match the grade level you set.
You don't have the ability to set individual reading levels for your students. However, students have the ability to set their own reading level and you can make recommendations.
Once students have completed enough quizzes, Newsela will begin to automatically deliver assigned articles at each student's individual reading level. For more information, see the FAQs: How Newsela thinks about reading levels.
