What inspired you to teach?
I have always loved being around children. Their eagerness to learn and their kind hearts are inspiring. I grew up with a wonderful family who taught me the importance of education, love and empathy. This made me want to share what I have to offer with children who need it most. I especially wanted to work with children who might not have the same family background as me because I can create a family for them in our class. My goal is to not only create a love for learning in my students but a confidence in their abilities and pride in themselves and their peers.
Describe a favorite teaching memory
My two favorite teaching memories:
1. Last year in my 3rd/4th grade 12:1 class, my students researched colleges they want to go to in the future and wrote a 5 paragraph essay on it. It was amazing to see them think about their future and create this writing using technology. I saw a tremendous growth in self-confidence and it was incredible!
2. This year in my 4th grade ICT class, we created a tech team based on a few students and their eagerness to learn and implement technology within their studies. They have learned to use Newsela, IXL, Raz Kids, Google Classroom, Google Docs, Google Slides and Google Forms. Once they became experts using them, they became the teachers for their peers. I no longer have to help my students with these technologies because they are already on it! They also collaborated and created a Google Slideshow presentation to showcase their growth in technology for visitors at our school and their presentation was amazing!
Something I can’t live without is…..
Family, laughing & empathy
When I'm not teaching I am …...
Spending time with family and friends and enjoying life!
