Read to Fund Diversity-Related Projects on Donors Choose
As a part of the A Mile In Our Shoes program, the more students read, the more projects we’ll fund on DonorsChoose.org. As each level in the reading drive is reached, we will be selecting projects from Donorschoose.org that share a theme with the reading drive: “Tolerance, Diversity, Inclusion and Empathy”. Our preference will be to fully fund a project so teachers will have peace of mind that their project will come to fruition. The number of projects we fund will be based on the projects available at the time the donation level is reached and funds needed by each.
Each article completed will contribute to the overall total of the drive.
An article is completed when a student completes the multiple choice quiz associated with each Newsela article. On-topic articles are worth double. Each quiz completed on an article that is NOT part of the A Mile In Our Shoes Text Sets counts as one completed article. Each quiz completed on an article that IS part of the A Mile In Our Shoes Text Sets counts as two completed articles. Newsela will count all articles completed from February 1 toward the Drive.
To start getting contributing to the reading drive, have your students start reading articles and taking quizzes from the A Mile In Our Shoes Text Sets.
