How to view student progress in Student Reading Clubs

As a PRO educator, you can view student progress in Student Reading Clubs.

  1. Go to your Binder and select the Students Tab at the top of the Binder.
  2. Select the name of any individual student and scroll down to find the Reading Club listed (it will be under your class, and above Independent Reading).
  3. Expand the Reading Club row to view details on student activities for each article (article time, quiz score, Write response, number of annotations, and skills mastery).
  4. From here, you can click to any individual article. On the article page, you'll see a list of student names with icons indicating what work each student has completed on the article, and you can click on their names to see their work.

Students will be instructed to annotate the articles in various ways, and you will be able to view these annotations by going to the article from the Reading Club row in your binder. You can also respond to these student annotations with feedback!

If you want your students complete Write responses for the club articles, ask them to select your class (not the Reading Club class) when completing the Write response. You will be able to view and grade these Write responses by navigating to them from the Reading Club row in your binder.

Don't hesitate to let us know at community@newsela.com if you have any questions or feedback! For the quickest response, title your email "Reading Club Question."
