Your classroom setup may be done by now, but we have a few more fresh favorites that debuted on the Newsela platform this past month! Here are a few of our staff picks that you can add to your classroom library now or throughout the year. From 13-year-old journalists interviewing WWII veterans to the science behind atmospheric rivers, there are resources for every class and subject.

These new ELA videos can inspire students to become journalists, poets, or sci-fi superstars in their own right. Work these videos into your classroom activities to build background knowledge and introduce different genres of writing to your students.

History is happening all around us, all the time. Some of our favorite new social studies resources explore the link between the past and present. Have your students read these articles and discuss the ways in which history informs current events.

Science articles on Newsela are among my favorites (which are also great for ELA). Explain headline-grabbing phenomena with scientific resources that your students understand. Demystifying some of the recent climate tragedies students have seen, and maybe even experienced, can help to build understanding and assuage fear.
