itsLearning for System Admins

Newsela's itsLearning integration supports single sign-on and rostering from itsLearning. The integration requires system administrator set up.

Newsela’s implementation team guides itsLearning system administrator through setting up the itsLearning /Newsela integration. Please contact us to request setup.

Teacher email addresses are required to sync itsLearning users with Newsela.

Student email address created by the district, which are not editable by students, are recommended for the itsLearning integration. They identify duplicate accounts, and allow for them to automatically merge. If students control the email address, we do not recommend including them.

Newsela’s itsLearning integration supports single sign-on and rostering from itslearning. Accounts are created automatically the first time a user clicks on the Newsela link. After a teacher enables the class sync from itsLearning,  Newsela classes will automatically be created the first time a teacher signs into Newsela from that itslearning course . 

DO NOT sync itsLearning PD courses (classes in which teachers are enrolled as course members) with Newsela to cause teachers to be set up as students.

Newsela’s integration with itsLearning does not support displaying Newsela content inside itsLearning. Teachers and students will have to log into Newsela from itsLearning, and access content in a new browser tab.
