📚Content Updates

Newsela content is updated on a regular basis. During this time period the following content updates were introduced:

Mini Inquiries Collection (Newsela Social Studies)

Inquiries help build critical thinking skills, increase engagement, and develop students’ abilities to articulate an argument. A collection of mini inquiries makes it easier to incorporate inquiry-based learning into daily instruction as there is a lower time commitment.

  • There are 38 new text sets available supporting mini inquiries for a variety of topics.

  • Each text set provides teachers with suggested grade levels (lower elementary, upper elementary, middle school, and high school).

  • Each text set comes with a dedicated Lesson Spark for teachers focused on guiding an inquiry-based lesson.

  • On average, these lessons take between 1-4 class periods to complete.

Access this collection by navigating to “Inquiry Design Model Resources” in the left-hand menu of the Social Studies browse page
